(1) Всему (свое) время, и (свой) срок всякой вещи под небесами: (2) Время рождаться и время умирать; Время насаждать и время вырывать насаженное. (3) Время убивать и время исцелять; Время взламывать и время строить. (4) Время плакать и время смеяться; Время скорбеть и время плясать. (5) Время разбрасывать камни и время собирать камни; Время обнимать и время удаляться от объятий. (6) Время искать и время терять; Время хранить и время бросать. (7) Время разрывать и время сшивать; Время молчать и время говорить. (8) Время любить и время ненавидеть; Время войне и время миру. (9) Что пользы тому, кто свершает, от того, что он трудитья? (10) Увидел я дело, которое дал Б-г сынам человеческим, дабы забавляться этим. (11) Все создал Он прекрасным в свое время, даже вечность вложил в их сердца, но так, чтобы дела, творимые Б-гом, не мог постичь человек от начала и до конца. (12) Узнал я, что нет для него ничего лучшего, чем веселиться и делать добро в жизни своей. (13) И если кто ест и пьет и видит благо во всяком труде своем, это – дар Б-жий. (14) Узнал я: все что Б-г творит, это будет вовек, к тому нельзя прибавить и от того нельзя убавить; а сотворил Б-г так, чтобы боялись Его. (15) То, что было – это и есть, а то, что будет – уже было; и Б-г взыщет за преследуемого. (16) И еще увидел я под солнцем: место суда, а там – беззаконие, место справедливости, а там – беззаконие. (17) Сказал я в сердце своем: праведного и нечестивого Б-г рассудит, ибо там (есть) время для каждой вещи и для любого дела. (18) Сказал я в сердце своем по поводу сынов человеческих, что отличил их Б-г (от других существ), но увидел, что сами по себе они скоты. (19) Ибо участь сынов человеческих и участь скотины – одна и та же участь: как тем умирать, так умирать и этим; и дыханье одно у всех, и нет превосходства человека над скотом, ибо все – суета. (20) Все идет в одно место; все произошло из праха, и все возвратится в прах. (21) Кто знает, возносится ли ввысь дух сынов человеческих, а дух животных – нисходит ли вниз, в землю? (22) И увидел я, что нет ничего лучшего, чем радоваться человеку делам своим, ибо это доля его. Ибо кто приведет его взглянуть на то, что будет после него?
