The Monkees is American pop-quartet, which was recorded and spoke with concerts from 1966 to 1971. The group members were first collected together in 1965 by the NBC TV channel for filming a television series about the weekdays of the modern rock band, the model for which was the movie The Beatles "Evening of a Hard Day". The success of the series exceeded all expectations, and the participants of The Monkees (their name means "Martyski" - hut on their parody) began to release hit hit, reproducing the most superficial aspects of the Beatles music. Their most successful singles are the humorous "I'm a Believe", the cheerful "Daydream Believer" and a more serious "Last Train to Clarksville" - reached the first line in national sales charts. These songs often suffer: for example, "I'm a Believe" was executed by Eddie Murphy for the Cartoon "Shrek" (2001).
