В течение целого ряда сессий звукозаписи "Белого альбома" музыканты имели
возможность работать над индивидуальными проектами, все реже играя вчетвером,
что отчасти снимало напряжение в их отношениях. Но когда 22 августа 1968 г.
"Битлз" собрались вместе для записи песни Пола Маккартни "Back In The USSR",
обстановка накалилась, и Ринго Старр (имевший имидж человека, с мнением которого
в группе меньше всего считались) покинул студию, сказав, что уходит из группы.
Маккартни, не без помощи Леннона и Харрисона, сыграл вместо него на ударных;
таким образом, песня была записана без Ринго. Результатом стала прекрасная
композиция в стиле "Бич Бойз", позже вокалист этой группы Майк Лов даже
утверждал, что помог ее написать. Однако Хантер Дэвис в официальной биографии
"Битлз", опубликованной в 1968г., предложил иную версию.

AGAIN IN THE USSR

It was recorded on August 22, 23, 1968.
During a number of recording sessions of the "White Album", the musicians had
the opportunity to work on individual projects, all less often playing four,
which partly relieved the tension in their relationship. But when August 22, 1968
"The Beatles" came together to record Paul McCartney's song "Back In The USSR",
The situation was heated, and Ringo Starr (who had an image of a man whose opinion
in the group were least considered) left the studio, saying that he was leaving the band.
McCartney, not without the help of Lennon and Harrison, played instead of him on the drums;
thus, the song was recorded without Ringo. The result was a beautiful
composition in the style of "Beach Boys", later the vocalist of this group Mike Love even
claimed to have helped her write. However, Hunter Davis in the official biography
The Beatles, published in 1968, proposed a different version.
