Эту песню написал американский фольк -певец, коммунист Питер Сигер. В 1955 году американский бард Питер Сигер, сидя в самолете, перечитывал понравившиеся ему три строчки из песни из романа Михаила Шолохова «Тихий Дон» (в переводе на английский), которые он выписал в свою записную книжку: «Where are the flowers? The girls have plucked them. Where are the girls? They’ve taken husbands. Where are the men? They’re all in the army.» (Где все цветы? Их девушки собрали. А где все девушки? Они вышли замуж. А где же мужья их? Все они в армии.).Неожиданно один пассажир сказал своей жене: «Когда же они, наконец, научатся?!» (он говорил о своих детях). После этих слов в голове Сигера что-то соединилось и он быстро дописал песню, придумав несколько куплетов. Песня стала известной в США после того, как её почти одновременно запели Пит Сигер, Джоан Баэз и Рой Орбисон, а в Европе её на английском и в немецком переводе пела Марлен Дитрих. This song was written by American folk singer, communist Peter Seeger. In 1955, American bard Peter Seeger, sitting on an airplane, reread three lines he liked from a song from Mikhail Sholokhov’s novel “Quiet Don” (translated into English), which he wrote in his notebook: “Where are the flowers? The girls have plucked them. Where are the girls? They’ve taken husbands. Where are the men? They’re all in the army. ” (Where are all the flowers? Their girls gathered. And where are all the girls? They got married. And where are their husbands? They are all in the army.).Suddenly, one passenger said to his wife: “When will they finally learn ?!” (he talked about his children). After these words, something connected in Seager’s head and he quickly finished the song, inventing several verses. The song became famous in the USA after it was sung almost simultaneously by Pete Seeger, Joan Baez and Roy Orbison, and in Europe it was sung in English and in German by Marlene Dietrich. This song is also used in the movie Forrest Gump. So the Reich soldiers smoked on the sidelines and sang Katyusha, they really liked her.
