Он познает и забвенье, и опалу,
Но скажите кто-нибудь со стороны

Пара тысяч, не увидивших войны.
Японский дипломат Чиун Сугихара, рискуя жизнью, спас более 10 тысяч евреев во время Второй мировой войны от нацистских концлагерей. В песне говорится о паре тысяч, на самом деле это только численность глав еврейских семейств, получивших визы от Сугихара. 10 тысяч - это предположительное число, с учетом членов семей. Точного же числа спасенных не знает никто. После войны консул был в опале, торговал электролампами и не афишировал своего поступка. Мир узнал о нем за год до его смерти, когда представители Израиля отыскали-таки Сугихара в 1985 году, за год до его смерти.
