В старину святки были не только в зимнее солнцестояние, но и в летнее. Звучит традиционный сюжет из «жития» русской богини любви(сюжет «Золушка), когда девку матушка не пускает гулять(в сказке—на бал), а заставляет работать.

In the old days, Christmas time was not only in the winter solstice, but also in the summer. There is a traditional plot from the “life” of the Russian goddess of love (the plot “Cinderella”), when the mother does not let the girl go for a walk (in a fairy tale — to a ball), but makes her work.
